Year End Deadlines Fast Approaching
We offer a reminder to all Members of the following deadlines that are fast approaching:
Dec. 8 - Outstanding Accounts - A gentle reminder that all outstanding accounts must be paid by December 8 to ensure MAP eligibility.
Dec. 15 - SSA Awards Nominations - At this time, based on very limited nominations the viability of the SSA Awards & Recognition program is in jeopardy. If you know of deserving players, coaches, referees, and volunteers please submit a nomination. A reminder that the nominations must be completed to be considered. Let’s make this year’s event a success.
Dec. 15 - SSA Bylaws - This is the final reminder to submit any bylaw amendments for consideration at the 2022 AGM in March.
Dec. 15 - Nominations to the SSA Board of Directors - This year there are six open positions on the Board. SSA takes pride in an open, transparent, equitable and inclusive recruitment process which welcomes candidates with diverse backgrounds and skill sets and experience that can be an asset on the SSA Board.
Dec. 15 - Indoor Registration - For Registration fees and Registrar Report.

Indoor Registration - Deadline for the Indoor Registrar Report and fees. This will include registrations received November 1 - December 8, 2021.
Board of Director Nominations - Deadline December 15
Saskatchewan Soccer Association is calling for nominations to the SSA Board of Directors for six available positions in 2022. SSA Members will elect their Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting scheduled for March 19, 2022.

The SSA Board of Directors is a governance board consisting of a maximum of 12 Directors. The Board’s primary functions are approval of SSA Member Organizations, policy development, strategic planning, financial oversight, risk identification, and the selection and evaluation of the Executive Director.
AN OPEN AND TRANSPARENT RECRUITMENT PROCESS
The SSA Board of Directors has developed a process to recruit Board candidates that is open and transparent. The process works as follows:
1) A Nomination Form (
Fillable PDF) is completed by the Nominator. (Please note: Download a version of the Fillable PDF document onto your own desktop, prior to filling out the form)
2) Nominees will complete a Director-Candidate Information (
Fillable PDF) form which confirms their acceptance of the nomination and details their background, education and experience to support their Nomination. (Please note: Download a version of the Fillable PDF document onto your own desktop, prior to filling out the form).
PLEASE NOTE: Both documents must be received by the Chair of the SSA Nominations Committee by the DEADLINE: December 15, 2021.
Nominate someone for the SSA Recognition Awards
Know someone that goes above and beyond on or off the field? SSA extends the invitation to nominate players, teams, coaches, referees, and volunteers that exemplify the Values, Vision, and Mission of the organization! Award nominees and winners will be celebrated during the Recognition Celebration on March 19 2022.
The deadline to submit nomination forms for the Saskatchewan Soccer Association Technical and Recognition Awards is on December 15.

Forms and Criteria
SK Referee Appointments to U Sports Women’s Soccer Championship
Nicole Rapin (pictured above second from right) was appointed to officiate at the
U Sports Women’s Soccer Championship hosted by Cape Breton University in Sydney, Nova Scotia, November 18-21.
Nicole received two fourth-official appointments on the first day of the competition. The following day, Nicole officiated Cape Breton vs Western. This was followed by another appointment as a referee for the most entertaining game of the Championships - Trinity Western vs Laval. Nicole’s competition has concluded with a fourth-official appointment in the Bronze Medal semi-final.
Saskatchewan Soccer Association is very proud of all officials that have represented SK at the National Competitions!
2021 Referee Education
November 15 marked the last education session in 2021 for the Saskatchewan Elite Referee Program (SERP) and Candidates Program. This session concluded a very busy year for SSA referee development. Over various programs, Saskatchewan Soccer Association delivered 29 education and upgrading sessions. The SERP/Candidates Program (Urban and Rural), Community and Futsal accounted for over 97 hours of online education.
Saskatchewan Soccer Association would like to thank all Instructors/Assessors and Referees for their ongoing commitment to improve, their endless work, and desire to serve the game. We are looking forward to another successful year in 2022!
Referees are essential to the participant experience and advancement of the game. They deserve our respect and a supportive, abuse-free, environment. You can make a difference; always treat them well and thank them for their contributions every game!
University and College Soccer wrap-up
Saskatchewan Soccer Association is proud to have helped develop so many athletes through the Regional Excellence Program (REX) and EXCEL programs that have gone on to have success at the University and College levels this past year. Many of these young athletes have moved far away from home and are participating in programs across the continent. Here’s a look at some of these young athletes and where they’ve moved on to.
On November 21, MacEwan University women’s soccer team defeated Trinity Western Spartans in the U Sports final in Cape Breton Nova Scotia. Two members of the national champion MacEwan University Griffins women’s soccer team developed their soccer skills in Saskatchewan before joining the Edmonton based University. Brenna Paquin and Renee DeCorby have both trained in the Saskatchewan Soccer Association REX program based in Saskatoon. Congratulations to Brenna and Renee on your championship season at MacEwan University.
The University of Ottawa Gee-Gee’s had a great year, going undefeated in regular season play. Goalkeeper Cassidy Joslin and midfielder Nammi Nguyen both former SSA REX athletes competed for the University of Ottawa. Representing SSA REX at the University of New Brunswick were strikers Danika Diehl and Madison Goertz, as well as goalkeeper Brynn Nash. The Brandon University Bobcats women’s soccer team has five SSA players on the roster. Defender Emily Bussiere, midfielders Brogan Henry, Kenadie Janzen, and Kylie Van De Woestyne and forward Kiyanna Arevalo, all with SSA roots. Representing SSA REX at Ontario Tech University is defender Tia Schaffer.
Former SSA REX athletes competing at the University level in the United States this year include Claire Abrey, midfielder at the University of Memphis in Tennessee. Penny Mulenga is playing as a midfielder for Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. Haley Krahenbil is a midfielder for Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina. Sarah Ochitwa is a defender for Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. Midfielders Maddy St. Yves and Crystyn Isbister along with defender Skylar Hall are all representing SSA at Minot State University in North Dakota.
Closer to home, representing SSA REX at the University of Regina were midfielders Ally Schneider, Taylor Bubnick, Zoe Icton and defender Delaney Rhinehart. Representing SSA REX at the University of Saskatchewan were forward Naleya Kobussen, defender Georgina Gannitsos-Clark, midfielder Caitlin Stroeder and goalkeeper Chloe Bailey.
On the men’s side representing SSA is Ryan Ko defender for the University of Guelph Gryphons in Ontario. Zach Wildman is a midfielder on the University of Calgary Dinos. South of the border Luke Washenfelder is a defender for the Wilmington College Quakers in Ohio.
2022 Saskatchewan Soccer Association SaskTel Indoor Provincial Championships Entry Information
Saskatchewan Soccer Association (SSA), in partnership with Saskatoon Youth Soccer Inc. (SYSI) and FC Regina (FCR), are very pleased to confirm the following information and deadlines for the 2022 SaskTel Indoor Youth Provincial Championships and the 2022 Adult Futsal Provincials:
Team registration is available on the SSA website by clicking
here.
The entry fee will be $600 (6 aside), $700 (9 aside) and $650 (Adult Futsal).
The associated entry fee must be submitted to your local Member Organization. Your Member Organization will forward all team registration fees to the SSA, in advance of the Entry Deadline. Late team registrations will not be accepted.
Rosters will be submitted using the online platform, with additional information on this process to be forwarded to all teams following the entry deadline.
Rulebooks for all competitions will be posted soon on the
SSA website. Participants are expected to review the Rulebooks before the competition.

Everyone’s Game strategy it was determined that more work needs to be done and our current objectives will be carried over into 2022. Our strategy will continue to foster diversity, inclusion, and equity through our programs and services.
