April 16 - Member Update

Apr. 16, 2021

Return to Soccer

Although we do not have government guidelines specific to outdoor sport yet, this week we received clarification from BRT on how the current restrictions are to be applied for those ready to move outside.
Based on this information, we have updated the restrictions in the Return to Soccer Plan (pages 5 & 6) and the 2021 FAQ Document. Minor amendments have also been made to the Return to Soccer Plan to add clarity and remove information that is no longer relevant. Please visit our COVID Resources Page.

Next Member Discussion

The next Member Discussion is Tuesday, April 27th at 8:00 PM to align with the government update anticipated April 26th. We hope to have more information on the guidelines to inform what our Outdoor season will look like. This will be an important meeting that Member Organizations will not want to miss.

Canada Soccer launches online Grassroots Coach Education Program

Canada Soccer has just launched a new online learning solution to replace the current Community Stream Coach Education in-person classroom component. Learn what these means for SSA Member Organization by reading the release here.
More information will be available for Member Organizations at our next Member Call

It is time to Register Your Referees!

We would like our match officials to be fully ready to return to games once restrictions are lessened. SSA has provided a reduction of referee registration fee of 50% to encourage registration and position your Member Organization to be able offer games when safe to do so. Please encourage all returning referees to head over to your Member Organization’s RAMP portal and register if they have not done so already. Referees have a very important role in the game and your Member Organization’s future programming is contingent on the number of registered referees you have available.

Referee Laws of the Game Refresher 2020-2021

SSA will be offering Laws of the Game Refresher online education sessions open to all registered Saskatchewan Soccer referees. Sessions will be approximately 1.5 hours and will focus on the 2020-2021 modifications to the IFAB Laws of the Game. Thank you to all that have joined us on April 15. Next available session is on Wednesday, April 28 at 7:30pm.
If you are interested, please register here. Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation email with relevant details and the access link. Here is a sample from April 15 session. Looking forward to seeing you online!

Now is the time to create some energy around the 50-50 Rafflebox Project!

Rafflebox has received provincial gaming approval and SSA is in the process of getting our license approved.
The more Members we have participating the higher the jackpots and the more enthusiasm we will generate. Let’s get excited about raising funds to support your organization’s soccer goals. Let’s aim high - groups like Nova Scotia Firefighters have jackpots over $200,000 weekly. For SSA Members 35% of sales will go to support soccer every week.
There is no risk. SSA and Rafflebox will manage the 50-50, and all you have to do is encourage sales which can go directly back to your organization. Currently we have 12 of 52 Member Organizations who have enrolled in the Rafflebox project. Our goal is to have every Member Organization join in as this is a unique opportunity to raise funds to potentially cover the cost of participant fees for 2021. Once the agreement form is filled out there is no additional work to be completed by the Member Organization. This is a no risk fundraiser with potential to have great reward.
Please fill out and return the agreement form located here to ea@sasksoccer.com for your organization to be added to the Rafflebox dropdown and ensure your organization is included in receiving funds.

As a reminder, please continue to take care of yourself, your families, and others.
Wash your hands frequently (it is the single most effective way of reducing infection spread).
Practice other good hygiene habits: do not touch your face/eyes/mouth with your hands and cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough (ideally with a disposable tissue or the crease of your elbow).
Clean and disinfect frequently touched workspace surfaces.
Maintain good general health (eat a balanced diet, get enough sleep, and move in moderation).
Stay home if you are sick
Our sport is underway during the pandemic. It's a challenging time, but support from our partners allows us to offer opportunities for kids to play. We acknowledge the financial support of the Government of Canada. Nous reconnaissons l'appui financier du gouvernement du Canada.
